The ongoing project of using-method of modified-products

Installation

clock, measurement tape, cotton, hair,fan

This is a series of works of daily practice for Good New Bad New lesson.

Mentioned in my artist statement, there are many Modified-products for people to repetitively use in mundane life, but because of they are so convenient, we, as emotional animals, can't be numbed by tools.

In addition, we should become the creators of tools. Tools, created by humans to improve life, as an artist, those to me are"second-hand experience" and "second-hand technology", I"ve always been alerted to myself that these items are part of my life, I should leave my mark on these items.

This recognition is also derived from a passage from Joseph Beuys's concern. To him, information means everything that the world contains: human beings, animals, history, plants, stones, time, etc. "In order to communicate the person's language, a form of writing, if there is a one made a symbol on the wall or typed the letter. In short, he used the meanings. What means can be used for political action? "Joseph Beuys chose art. The production of art is a means of working for people in the field of thought. It should gradually become an increasing political task, and it is a matter of his mission and capacity. For communication's sake.

"Technically, there is a conveyor and a recipient. If nobody listens, this conveyor is meaningless. Every word always has a sender and a recipient. But I don't confuse myself when I think I can talk to everyone; that's why people learn to talk and discuss things. Language is therefore indispensable; the concept of language conveys to me the full meaning of information."

Asian girl's life in London

12cm x 6cm x 4cm

Fan, hair, USB

It's all based on very personal experience, black hairs are all collected in my normal life,

And I've put it into my MUJI-bought little fan.

Summer in London is too hot, thanks to this little thing that makes life easier.

_______________

A univeral measurement tape

4cm x 4cm

Measurement tape from MUJI

MUJI has a lot of such small stationery that gives me too much inspiration for product design.

This scale is used to measure the size of the body but does not seem to fit the other size except the Japanese general size,

so I wiped out this scale number so that it is sized into the infinity

"A measurement tape for all size", anything wrong with it?

_______________

Insomnia calculator

25cm x 25cm

Clock cotton

Turning from an annoying clock to an annoying timer,

it's pointless,but for art's requires--- insomnia.

I haven't counted how many times of insomnias equal to how much energy of two AAA batteries yet.
